Funmilayo Fashola

Psychiatrist Nurse Practitioner

Mrs. Fashola is a highly qualified Board-Certified Psychiatry Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PHNP-BC) who is trained in both primary care and psychiatry. She specializes in diagnosing, treating, and prescribing medication for children, adolescents, and adults with mental health issues such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and insomnia. Her practice style is flexible, providing both traditional psychiatric medical treatments and alternative medicines including natural treatments such as vitamins, supplements, lifestyle modifications, nutrition, exercise, and stress management. Despite the type of treatment, Funmi believes in the connection between the mind, body, and spirit and thus promotes the balance and overall wellness of her patients.

 

Funmi began her healthcare career as a Practical Licensed Nurse in 2004 after her vocational studies at the University of the District of Columbia. After working as a nurse for several years, Funmi realized her passion for helping patients with their medical and emotional problems. She then continued her education while working as an LPN and received an Associate Degree in Nursing in 2011, a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, and a Master's Degree in nursing for Leadership in Health Care System at Chamberlain University. Later, she obtained a Post Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Cincinnati.

 

With nineteen years of experience in medicine and healthcare, Funmi has worked in various settings such as Long Time Care, Community College, and Group Homes. She has served in different positions such as floor nurse, unit manager, staff development, adjunct professor (clinical instructor), and nursing home administrator. Her expertise is focused on geriatrics and pediatrics. Funmi promotes the philosophy of patient-centered and family-centered care, making sure that her patients receive the best possible care within her scope and capabilities.
